Houston Behavioral Healthcare Hospital is seeking a full-time Medical Coder for its Medical Records department.
The position supports behavioral healthcare operations by analyzing, abstracting, compiling data, and generating reports. The coder works under the supervision of the Medical Records Director and is responsible for maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with HIPAA standards.
Work schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- Successful completion of a certification program
- At least 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience with medical coding guidelines and procedures, including ICD-10 and CPT
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
- Data entry and transcription skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members, and colleagues
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and integrity of medical information
- Must be able to assemble and analyze records with 100% accuracy
- Ability to manage daily workload and work effectively during high census periods
