As a Home Health Coder II, you will review and code home health and hospice records using clinical documentation such as H&P, discharge summaries, progress notes, and F2F notes. You will document coding recommendations, OASIS edits, and help resolve coding-related issues with the team lead and denials team.
You will also maintain accurate review of OASIS time points and interdisciplinary documentation in the EMR for timely OASIS locks and CMS submission, support coding quality and productivity standards, and use SHP alerts and reports to help improve outcomes and utilization. This role supports Parallon's home health and hospice coding services for HCA Healthcare.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Minimum 2 years of professional fee coding experience required
- At least 1 year of coding experience in the applicable specialties for home health and hospice
- Relevant education may substitute for experience requirement
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology preferred
- Knowledge of pathophysiology preferred
- Coding certification required
- OASIS certification preferred but not required
