Baptist Health South Florida is seeking a Coding Auditor for inpatient coding operations. This role provides continuous education to coding staff and performs complex audits of clinically coded data to evaluate coding quality for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
The position serves as an expert in the Inpatient Prospective Payment System and/or Outpatient Prospective Payment System, independently reviewing coded data quality through ongoing analysis of inpatient or outpatient records. Responsibilities include concurrent audits of APC, ASC, or MS-DRGs, assessing medical record documentation for accurate coding, preparing reports, tracking and trending audit results, and delivering presentations for coding staff education.
The role also supports HIM coding management with education and training for coders, clinical departments, and physicians on documentation improvement to help optimize APC, ASC, and DRG reimbursement.
Qualifications
- High school diploma, certificate, GED, training, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience
- CCS or RHIT certification required within 2 years if not already held at hire
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or equivalent
- Preferred: AHIMA-approved ICD-10-CM/PCS trainer
- Proficiency in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4, and HCPCS coding conventions and guidelines
- Knowledge of encoder tools and National and Local Coverage Determinations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
