Quinault Community Health is seeking a detail-oriented Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to support healthcare billing, coding, auditing, and patient coverage enrollment. This role works closely with multiple departments to ensure accurate charge entries, compliant billing processes, and complete patient records.
The position includes reviewing medical records and coding entries, verifying documentation for billing, assisting patients with healthcare exchange applications, and helping patients understand coverage options and plan selection. The role also supports compliance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and other federal and state regulations.
Required
- 2 years of experience working in a medical setting
- Knowledge of medical billing, collections, payment posting, revenue cycle, third-party payers, Medicare, and Washington/Federal payer regulations
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, records management, transcription, and office systems
- Strong customer service skills and ability to assess patient needs
- Knowledge of state and federal confidentiality regulations, including RCW, WAC, and 42 CFR Part 2
- Knowledge of HIPAA and PHI requirements
- Proficiency with personal computers, standard office software, and office equipment
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
- Must pass criminal background investigation and reference inquiry
- Must maintain a valid Washington State Driver’s License and be insurable
