Seeking a skilled, motivated Certified Professional Coder for a dermatology practice.
This is an onsite, part-time position working Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The role involves reviewing documentation for office visits and procedures to ensure CPT codes, modifiers, and diagnoses are accurate and billed in compliance with laws, regulations, standards, and policy requirements.

Responsibilities
- Process claims and review progress notes for accuracy of electronic medical record-generated codes before submitting electronically.
- Apply appropriate modifiers to E&M and CPT codes to support payment and reduce denials.
- Handle insurance denials in a timely manner.
- Obtain patient estimates for procedures.
- Respond to patient questions regarding charges, services, and clinic billing policies.
- Maintain proficiency in billing and coding rules and regulations.
- Cross-train and assist with other duties such as scheduling.
- Complete quarterly compliance audits.
- Complete webinars and continuing education to stay current on coding guidelines.
- Maintain strong attention to detail and organizational skills to manage multiple records efficiently.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- CPC or CPCD certification.
- Proven understanding of EOBs, claim forms, and the insurance billing process.
- Working knowledge of commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.
- Strong understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Dermatology coding experience preferred.
- At least 2 years of coding/billing experience preferred.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Computer and typing skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- High school diploma.
