BayCare is seeking an experienced outpatient coder to perform advanced coding for short-stay encounters. This role reviews medical records and assigns diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4. The position collaborates with clinical and operational teams, resolves documentation questions, improves coding accuracy, supports revenue cycle integrity, and helps maintain the accuracy of the electronic health record.
The role also includes mentoring and training Coder I and Coder II team members as well as clinical practice students.

- Remote work: 100% remote for candidates living in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina
Requirements & Qualifications
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- 5 years of outpatient coding experience
Preferred
- Associate degree in Health Information Management or a related field
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credential
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and coding guidelines
- Strong analytical skills and experience serving as a coding resource or subject matter expert
