Cuero Regional Hospital is seeking a full-time HIM Rural Health Clinic and Professional Fee Medical Coder. This position is responsible for accurately reviewing, assigning, and validating ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes for professional medical services provided in a Rural Health Clinic.
The role ensures compliance with federal regulations, payer requirements, Rural Health Clinic billing guidelines, and coding standards while optimizing reimbursement and maintaining documentation integrity.
Reports to the HIM Director.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate's degree in Health Information Management or a related field preferred
- 2 years of professional fee coding experience
- Thorough knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS Level II, and E/M coding guidelines
- Familiarity with CMS regulations, National Correct Coding Initiative (NCCI), and payer-specific coding policies
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist-Physician Based (CCS-P), or equivalent coding certification required
- Strong medical coding knowledge
- Ability to multitask and answer telephone calls in a prompt and courteous manner
