Fairview Health Services is hiring a Coder 2 for its Professional and Emergency Department (ED) Coding team.
This full-time, benefit-eligible role works in a home-based setting and requires availability to work one Saturday per month.
The coder reviews clinical documentation, assigns diagnosis, procedure, and level-of-service codes, and abstracts clinical data using ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and HCPCS classification systems. The role supports accurate reimbursement, resolves medical necessity edits, identifies charge capture discrepancies, and communicates documentation feedback to providers.
Requirements & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Certificate program in Coding, or A.A./A.S. in HIM, or a certificate plus 1-3 years of healthcare experience (MA, HUC, Revenue Cycle)
- 1 year of coding experience
- Basic knowledge of Windows-based computer software, Epic, and Microsoft Teams
- One of the following credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CCS-P, CPC-H, COC, or an AAPC specialty certification
Preferred Qualifications
- B.S./B.A. in HIM
- 2 years of coding experience
