The Medical Records Coder, under general supervision, reviews and analyzes diagnoses and procedures to ensure they are valid and complete.
This role accurately codes hospital procedures to support proper reimbursement through correct assignment of ICD-9-CDM, ICD-10-CDM, HCPCS, and CPT codes.
The position follows the standards and objectives of the Medical Records department and includes indirect patient care for newborn through geriatric populations. Clerical duties and other HIM department responsibilities may also be assigned.
Must possess strong organizational skills and computer skills.
Must be able to review, analyze, and accurately code medical records and hospital procedures.
Experience with medical coding systems and Medical Records/HIM workflows is implied by the role.
