Join Salem Clinic PC as a Medical Coder in a full-time role at the Salem Clinic Inland Shores location in Keizer, Oregon.
The Medical Coder is responsible for accurately translating patient medical records into standardized codes for billing and insurance purposes. This includes assigning CPT, HCPCS, CPT-4 modifier, and ICD-10-CM codes to patient encounters and procedures, reviewing billing queue tasks, responding to denials, and supporting quality initiatives such as HCC/RAF coding and CPT-II coding.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Hours: 40 per week.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a course in health information management, medical billing, or medical coding
- Working knowledge of CPT, CPT-II, CPT-4, HCPCS, and ICD-10-CM coding
- Strong communication skills for face-to-face, telephone, and written communication
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology
- Basic computer skills, including keyboarding, 10-key, mouse, word processing, and Microsoft operating system functionality
- Ability to work quickly and accurately
- Ability to work tactfully with coworkers and providers
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of an educational program for medical coding
- One year of coding experience in an ambulatory setting
- Current coding certification such as CCA, CCS-P, or CPC
- Knowledge of office procedures, pathology, medications, and coding software
- Familiarity with Epic, EncoderPro.com, Outlook, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Word
