Provides billing and coding support for behavioral health and primary care services, ensuring correct codes are used in accordance with government and insurance regulations.
This role analyzes medical billing records, identifies billing and coding deficiencies, and serves as a resource to upper management, the billing department, and clinical staff.
Responsibilities include maintaining fee schedule updates, reviewing progress notes for coding accuracy, working claims for the Monroe Clinic, monitoring accounts receivable, researching denials, and supporting collections and resubmission efforts.
The position also serves as backup to the Credentialing Specialist and may require additional hours during peak workload periods.
One year of experience in patient coding, or
Registration with AHIMA as one of the following:
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
Additional expectations include:
- Ability to work with minimal instruction and direction
- Experience reviewing coding accuracy and claim rejections/denials
- Ability to maintain accurate records and spreadsheets
- Strong communication skills for working with clinical staff, billing staff, and management
