Join TaraVista as a Medical Coder for a full-time 40-hour position supporting behavioral health coding operations.
You will work remotely, with Massachusetts residents preferred, and be based in support of the Devens, Massachusetts team. In this role, you will code hospital and professional inpatient visits, abstract data into the WellSky EMR platform, and use the TruBridge encoder integration to support coding accuracy, medical necessity review, and DRG assignment.
The position reports to the Director of HIM and focuses on professional CPT coding for Medicare and Medicare-like payers in behavioral health clinical areas across TaraVista and MiraVista Behavioral Health.
Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in an AHIMA-approved program
- Previous experience in Health Information Management, a coding department, and/or behavioral health facility coding
- AHIMA certification, including CCA with full credentials within one year of hire
- Or AAPC certification, including apprentice status with full credentials within one year of hire
- Medical coding certification and/or at least two years of psychiatric ICD-10-CM and CPT coding experience, including E/M coding using 2023 guidelines
- Ability to accurately code from ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT-4 guidelines using TruBridge Encoder integration through the EMR
- Ability to code for one or more hospital locations
- Experience with Medicare and Medicare-like insurance coding for professional services in behavioral health
- Ability to maintain credentials and continuing education requirements
