Optum is seeking a Senior Inpatient Medical Coder to support inpatient hospital coding and chart review work. This role focuses on assigning ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes, ensuring accurate DRG impact analysis, abstracting relevant chart data, and supporting provider documentation quality.
The position offers the flexibility to telecommute from anywhere within the U.S. and is part of a team committed to improving health outcomes through technology and care coordination.
Requirements & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- AHIMA and/or AAPC professional coder certification: RHIT, RHIA, CCS, or CIC (must be maintained annually)
- 3+ years of acute care inpatient medical coding experience in a hospital or facility setting
- 3+ years of DRG coding experience with mastery of complex procedures, including cardiac catheterization, complex cardiology, interventional radiology, orthopedic, and neurology cases
- 3+ years of training and experience using ICD-10-PCS procedure coding
