Responsibilities

- Enter billing information accurately into EHR systems and billing software to support timely claim submission.
- Process health insurance claims, verify coverage details, and follow third-party payer requirements.
- Manage accounts receivable by following up on unpaid or denied claims.
- Maintain documentation of medical records, coding decisions, and billing transactions to support audits and compliance reviews.
- Stay current with updates in coding standards, including ICD-10/ICD-9 updates, CPT coding changes, and inpatient service regulations.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to resolve documentation discrepancies and ensure proper coding for reimbursement.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing and coding within a healthcare setting or medical office environment.
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10/ICD-9 coding systems, CPT coding procedures, DRG classifications, and medical terminology.
- Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems for electronic health record management.
- Understanding of health insurance policies, claim processing procedures, and revenue cycle management principles.
- Ability to use billing software efficiently while maintaining high accuracy standards.
- Knowledge of medical records management and HIPAA compliance is preferred.
- Prior experience with inpatient service coding is advantageous, but training will be provided.
