Fairview Health Services is hiring a Coder 4 for its Inpatient Coding team. This full-time, benefit-eligible role offers the flexibility to work in a virtual environment while staying connected with the coding team and other organizational partners.
The position focuses on hospital-based inpatient coding using ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and MS-DRG assignment, with support from encoder and computer-assisted coding (CAC) software. The coder will review complex clinical documentation, research difficult coding scenarios, query physicians when clarification is needed, and help ensure accurate reimbursement, quality reporting, and regulatory compliance.
The role also supports clinical documentation improvement efforts, provider education, and collaboration with revenue cycle teams to help ensure timely and accurate claim submission.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate program in coding or an associate degree in HIM
- 3+ years of coding experience
- One of the following credentials:
- RHIA
- RHIT
- CCS
- CIC
- Basic knowledge of Windows-based computer software
- Ability to keep up with continuing education units (CEUs)
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in HIM
- 2 or more years of hospital-based inpatient coding experience
