The Behavioral Health Medical Billing Coding Specialist will support the Billing Department at the Toms River office and help ensure accurate, timely billing and claim follow-up across multiple payer types. This role requires strong knowledge of behavioral health billing, coding, and payer rules, along with the ability to work in a complex reimbursement environment.
Key responsibilities include claim submission, denial resolution, payer portal use, patient statement processing, delinquent account management, and coordination with quality/compliance teams and an offshore billing team.
Minimum of 3 years of behavioral health medical billing and coding experience.
Experience in both for-profit and non-profit behavioral health settings preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Preferred billing/coding certifications such as CPB, CMRS, or equivalent.
Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding standards.
Proficiency with medical office systems, billing software, EHR/EMR systems, and clearinghouse workflows.
Experience with commercial, Medicare, Medicaid, state, and county payer portals.
Knowledge of payer regulations, behavioral health billing requirements, and claim submission processes.
Inovalon experience preferred.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to resolve complex billing and reimbursement issues.
