Certified Professional Coder

PIEDMONT ARTHRITIS

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Certified Professional Coder to join our rheumatology practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding patient encounters, procedures, and diagnoses to ensure proper billing and reimbursement.

This position will be in office during training and may be eligible for work from home depending on training completion.

Essential functions

  • Review and analyze medical records, including physician notes, lab results, and diagnostic reports, to assign appropriate CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes.
  • Ensure coding compliance with federal regulations, insurance company policies, and best practices.
  • Conduct regular internal audits to identify and correct coding discrepancies and compliance issues.
  • Work closely with the billing team to submit clean claims and resolve coding-related denials or rejections.
  • Provide documentation support to the collections team for appeals and complex claims.
  • Stay current with coding guidelines, payer policies, and industry regulations.
  • Serve as a coding resource for providers and clinical staff.
  • Educate providers on coding guidelines and documentation best practices.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with the team to support efficient revenue cycle management.
  • Perform other administrative and clerical tasks as needed.
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or similar certification from a recognized organization such as AAPC or AHIMA.
  • 2-3 years of medical coding experience.
  • Rheumatology or related specialty experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding guidelines.
  • Proficiency with EHR systems and medical billing software.
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CRHC highly preferred.
