Responsible for reviewing and coding home health and hospice records using clinical documentation such as H&P, discharge summaries, progress notes, and face-to-face notes. This role documents coding recommendations, OASIS edits, and supports resolution of coding-related issues in coordination with team leads, A/R, and denials teams.
Key duties include maintaining coding quality and productivity standards, keeping current with coding guidelines and federal regulations, ensuring accurate OASIS time points and interdisciplinary documentation in the EMR, and addressing SHP alerts and reports to support quality outcomes and utilization review.
High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of professional fee coding experience required
- At least 1 year of coding experience in home health and hospice specialties
- Relevant education may substitute for experience
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology preferred
- Knowledge of pathophysiology preferred
- Coding certification required
- OASIS certification preferred but not required
