Responsible for managing the full billing and collections workflow for ABA and behavioral health services, from claim submission through final payment. This role owns outstanding accounts, follows up with payers, resolves denials and underpayments, submits appeals and corrected claims, posts payments, and helps improve reimbursement and aging accounts receivable.
The position requires frequent communication with insurance companies by phone, payer portals, and email to confirm claim status, clarify benefits and authorizations, request reprocessing, and escalate unresolved issues. Strong documentation, persistence, and follow-through are essential.
Work location: Hybrid remote in Katy, TX 77450.
Required
- Previous experience in medical billing, healthcare billing, insurance follow-up, accounts receivable, or revenue cycle management
- Experience communicating directly with insurance companies
- Strong understanding of insurance claims and reimbursement processes
- Experience working with denied, rejected, unpaid, or underpaid claims
- Strong organizational and time-management skills

Preferred
- Experience with ABA therapy billing or behavioral health billing
- Experience with Medicaid and/or commercial insurance payers
- Knowledge of ABA billing requirements and CPT codes
- Experience with EMR/EHR and medical billing software
- Experience with insurance portals and electronic claim systems
- Experience handling appeals, reconsiderations, corrected claims, and payer disputes
- Familiarity with EOBs, ERAs, remittance advice, and payment reconciliation
- Knowledge of HIPAA requirements
- Experience managing aging accounts receivable
