Coding Reimbursement Analyst

1.0 FTE day shift role at Olmsted Medical Center.

The position supports coding and reimbursement operations by assisting coding management with department enhancements, participating in teams and committees, managing denial and insurance inquiry worklists, and collaborating with patient account representatives and the reimbursement department. The role also reviews payer guidelines, supports denial management, and works with payers on risk adjustment analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist coding management in developing, coordinating, and implementing departmental enhancements
  • Participate in teams and committees
  • Bring creative ideas and suggestions to management
  • Attend education and training seminars
  • Manage assigned work lists for account denials and insurance inquiries for professional and technical components
  • Work with patient account representatives on denial reversal and the appeal process
  • Collaborate closely with the Reimbursement department
  • Review monthly news bulletins to stay current on insurance payer guidelines
  • Attend training to remain current on coding guidelines
  • Monitor denial frequency and trends to support organizational denial management
  • Report findings and progress to the Insurance and Reimbursement departments
  • Work with various payers on risk adjustment analysis
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications

Qualifications

  • CPC or CCS certification required
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required
  • Experience with ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, and DRG coding required
  • Experience with third-party payers, Medicare Parts A & B, and state-funded programs required
  • Minimum of two years of healthcare experience required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Strong understanding of coding concepts
  • Proven organization, documentation, and communication skills
