The Senior Healthcare Billing Lead is a hands-on leadership role responsible for complex billing activities, revenue cycle optimization, team coaching, systems support, and process improvement. Reporting to the Billing Manager, this position serves as a subject matter expert for billing operations while supporting training, workflow management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Do
- Perform advanced healthcare billing and revenue cycle functions.
- Lead, coach, and support billing colleagues through training and workflow guidance.
- Serve as a resource for denials, reimbursement issues, claim corrections, and complex billing scenarios.
- Support billing system implementations, upgrades, reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
- Perform auditing and payment posting functions while ensuring accuracy, timely resolution of issues, and compliance with revenue cycle standards.
- Monitor work queues, balance workloads, and help drive departmental performance.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, cash collections, quality, and operational effectiveness.

What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of healthcare billing and revenue cycle experience.
- Experience leading, training, or mentoring billing team members.
- Strong knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, commercial insurance, claims processing, denials, and reimbursement.
- Experience with billing systems, clearinghouses, EMR/EHR platforms, and Microsoft Excel.
- Working knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding principles.
- Proven ability to improve processes, optimize systems, and solve complex billing challenges.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience in diagnostic imaging, radiology, or physician practice billing.
- CPC, CCS, RHIT, RHIA, or similar coding certification preferred.
