Union County Orthopaedic Group, a division of OrthoNJ, LLC, is a fast-paced, patient-centered medical practice specializing in orthopaedics, pain management, and podiatry across three New Jersey locations.
The Billing Supervisor leads the billing team, manages revenue cycle performance, and ensures the accuracy and efficiency of billing operations. This role combines hands-on billing work with people leadership, including coaching staff and overseeing daily workflow.
Responsibilities include follow-up on rejected claims and overdue balances, payor relationship management, patient accounts receivable, billing audits, fee schedule maintenance, credentialing support, compliance oversight, and collaboration with physicians and the compliance team.
Leadership & supervision
- Minimum 2 years of medical billing management experience, preferably in a physician group practice
- Experience training, developing, and overseeing billing staff
- Ability to monitor workload and maintain coverage during absences
- Ability to provide in-service training on insurance requirements and billing updates
Revenue cycle and billing knowledge
- Revenue cycle experience in a physician group practice setting
- Orthopaedic billing experience
- Commercial insurance billing experience, including BCBS, Aetna, Cigna, and UHC
- Proven knowledge of CPT and ICD-10-CM coding for orthopaedic, podiatry, and pain management procedures
- Strong understanding of managed care contractual arrangements and accounts receivable processes
- Working knowledge of practice management systems and electronic medical records; ModMed/EMA experience is a plus
- Strong analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA guidelines
- High school diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
Compensation and benefits
- Annual salary range of $62,000 to $90,000
