Coding Supervisor

Job summary

The Revenue Cycle Coding Supervisor provides supervisory oversight for the Coding Team, ensuring daily coding activities are completed with priority, timeliness, accuracy, efficiency, and completeness. This role leads by example, supports staff development, monitors workflow, reviews coding audits, and helps maintain compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise coding team members and provide support, coaching, mentoring, and training.
• Monitor workflow and workloads throughout the day and adjust as needed.
• Ensure cases are coded within 48 hours of receipt.
• Review coding audits and provide feedback and additional training.
• Oversee send-back processes and ensure cases are logged or reviewed in RIS as needed.
• Evaluate processes and procedures to support quality and documentation improvements.
• Perform coding work as needed and verify medical record accuracy and completeness.
• Read and interpret medical documentation to identify diagnoses, conditions, and reasons for encounter.
• Maintain compliance with coding standards, HIPAA, OSHA, and other applicable policies.
• Communicate workflow issues and department conditions to management.
