Purpose
Work remotely in a role focused on revenue integrity, charge capture, coding validation, documentation review, and analytical support for key organizational objectives.
This position uses specialized knowledge, data analysis, research, and critical thinking to support colleagues and leadership. The role may also serve as a peer influencer and may direct projects or project teams.
Responsibilities include charge capture, charge validation, coding support, pre-bill edit review, documentation review, and educating clinical and ancillary staff on accurate documentation and charge capture practices.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- Associate degree in healthcare, business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of degree
- RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC/COC, AAPC, or other coding credential required
- Minimum 3 years of relevant coding and charge control experience in a hospital and/or physician practice setting
- Experience in revenue cycle, billing, coding, and/or patient financial services
- Strong knowledge of clinical processes, charge master maintenance, and clinical coding including CPT, ICD-10, revenue codes, and modifiers
- Working knowledge of third-party payer rules and electronic interfaces related to charge documentation, capture, and billing
- Knowledge of charge capture, reconciliation, error management, and revenue cycle operations
- Understanding of AMA and Medicare coding guidelines
Preferred Qualifications
- CDC Healthcare Compliance Certification preferred
- CHRI certification or membership strongly preferred
- Knowledge of APC, OPPS, OCE, CCI, and DNFB processes preferred
- Knowledge of clinical documentation improvement processes strongly preferred
