The LECOM Institute for Successful Living is seeking a full-time Billing/Accounts Receivable Clerk to process facility insurance claims and support the finance team in Erie, PA. The role involves working denied claims, maintaining patient account documentation, supporting reimbursement efforts, and assisting with billing-related customer service.
Responsibilities include:
- Processing and correcting insurance denials
- Working accounts receivable aging to maximize reimbursement for services provided
- Documenting all efforts on patient accounts
- Providing customer service to internal and external customers regarding claims, resident statements, and insurance processing
- Collaborating with other departments to resolve and avoid denials and appeals
- Communicating billing questions and assisting with billing-related issues
- Staying current with payer requirements and sharing best practices
- Supporting root cause analysis of denied claims and recommending process improvements
- Maintaining confidentiality and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and standards of conduct
- Performing additional duties as assigned
Requirements & Qualifications
- Medical billing and coding certificate, diploma, or degree preferred
- 3 to 6 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Accounts receivable experience preferred
- Medical billing experience preferred
- Ability to work in person
- Associate degree preferred
