Performs physician education, internal auditing, coder education, management of AR queries/problems, and serves as liaison with external auditors for corporate audits.
Responsible for ensuring the internal audit program supports ethical reimbursement and that coding practices remain within established compliance guidelines.
Uses both ICD and CPT coding methodologies in internal audit activity and works closely with coders, management, physicians, and leadership to address audit findings, trends, and scheduling of internal and external audits.
Associate degree preferred.
CPC or CCS certification required.
4+ years of experience with multi-specialty coding required.
4+ years of experience with acute care outpatient coding required.
Professional fee coding experience required.
Must demonstrate competence in Correct Coding Initiative (CCI), National Coverage Determination (NCD), Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC), federal payer policies, and related complex coding protocols.
