The Certified Coder is responsible for the daily coding workflow to ensure quality and compliance for charge review and processing across all clinic services. This role also supports focused coding review projects and helps develop and conduct provider education and coder training.
ICHS serves diverse immigrant and refugee communities across King County and operates multiple sites in the Seattle area.
- High school diploma or GED required
- Associate of Arts degree in Health Information Administration or a related field preferred, or equivalent work experience
- Completion of a certificate program in coding and billing also considered
- At least 7 years of work experience in medical coding and billing required
- Professional coding certification from AAPC (CPC) or AHIMA (CCS-P) required
- Experience with FQHC and Epic preferred
- Knowledge of PACE, inpatient hospital visits, Vision, Behavioral Health, telehealth services, and Acupuncture preferred
- Experience with provider audits, provider education and training, payer audits for risk adjustment diagnosis coding, and 2021 Evaluation & Management guidelines preferred
- Additional AAPC certifications such as CRC and CPMA preferred
