Responsible for the timely review and completion of discharged patient records to identify accurate ICD-10-CM and CPT codes that reflect the patient's stay.
Ensures all data elements required for federal and state reporting are collected and that coded data supports the billing process, including APC and MS-DRG assignment.
High school diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
2–3 years of coding experience in an acute care facility.
Preferred certifications: RHIA, RHIT, or CCS.
Strong computer skills and ability to work with computer screens for most of the day.
Excellent command of English, both verbal and written.
Strong organization skills.
Ability to communicate effectively with physicians and clinical staff.
Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity.
