Coding Validation Auditors – 2 positions available.

This role is responsible for performing quality reviews of medical records for coding and billing to ensure the clinical information in the medical record is accurate, complete, and compliant to support coding. The position also helps evaluate and ensure proper and complete authorization was obtained for procedures performed on the prior authorized date of service.

There are two auditor focus areas:

Surgical Coding Auditor: Auditing surgical/procedural coding, validating coding accuracy, documentation support, CPT/HCPCS and ICD-10-CM code assignment, modifier usage, and compliance with applicable coding guidelines.
E/M Coding Auditor: Auditing Evaluation and Management services, with emphasis on documentation requirements, code selection, medical necessity, and applicable coding guidelines.

This position is eligible for the remote coding program and is based in the Health Information Services department.

Requirements & Qualifications

RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, or CPC certification
5 or more years of hospital coding and/or coding auditing experience for a healthcare entity
Current understanding of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding
Current knowledge of coding rules and guidelines, Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and regulatory updates
Must live in North Carolina for this remote position
Strong customer service skills aligned with the organization’s Standards of Excellence
