Responsible for processing and scheduling all referrals to The Swift Institute.
Reports directly to the Director of Administrative Operations and/or the Department Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Track and enter all referral requests in the log on a daily basis
- Screen and schedule incoming referrals
- Enter complete and accurate demographic and insurance information into the EMR system
- Verify eligibility and benefits for services
- Obtain prior authorization when required by insurance
- Use available tools to determine patient financial responsibility
- Document benefits information according to protocol
- Communicate financial responsibility to patients at the time of scheduling
- Respond to providers regarding patient referrals, care coordination, and follow-up status
- Answer, respond to, and document patient calls, requests, and questions in a timely manner
- Maintain productivity goals while focusing on accuracy
- Follow all scheduling protocols established by The Swift Institute
- Perform other duties as assigned
Physical Requirements
- Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping/kneeling, reaching, twisting, and occasional lifting up to 30 pounds
- Must be able to use office equipment and computers for long periods
- Requires close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, as well as ability to adjust focus
- May involve occasional stress from managing multiple tasks and patients
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- GED or high school diploma
- Minimum one year of experience, or recent experience, working in a medical facility
- Knowledge of insurance, government payers, eligibility, and benefits processes
- Ability to respond promptly to patient needs
- Strong confidentiality, professionalism, and tact in all interactions
- Ability to prioritize work and use time efficiently
- Ability to adapt to change and handle frequent delays or unexpected events
- Knowledge of Intergy and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to operate a computer, search for information, and manage email and attachments
- Customer service experience preferred
- Medical terminology experience preferred
- Computer skills preferred
