The Medical Records Technician provides administrative and technical support to the Aerospace and Operational Medicine Division at Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command. This role focuses on maintaining, reviewing, and accurately entering aeromedical records for approximately 70,000 reservists.
Key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing medical documentation for completeness and readiness for government adjudication
- Performing technician-level data entry across front-end and back-end case management systems
- Maintaining systems such as AIMWTS, ECT, PEPP, MEDXS, and ASIMS
- Applying ICD-10 coding knowledge and medical terminology to document case files accurately
- Tracking cases through the review process and communicating status updates to Reserve Medical Units
- Compiling case disposition data and preparing recurring processing and quality reports
- Supporting division meetings and training with databases, spreadsheets, and graphics
Requirements & Qualifications
- Associate or bachelor's degree in health information management, health sciences, medical administration, healthcare administration, or a related field
- Experience processing and managing physical exams and medical standards
- Preferably experience in a military medical environment or equivalent civilian occupational health setting
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disorders of body systems, and medical terminology
- Proficiency with PDF software and Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
- Strong typing skills using QWERTY and 9-key pads for high-volume data entry
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Must possess or obtain an active favorable Tier 1 (T1) / NACI clearance
- Must complete DoD Cyber Awareness, HIPAA, and Privacy Act training
- Must sign a non-disclosure agreement
