Carolina Oncology Specialists is seeking an Authorization Specialist to support revenue cycle management for oncology services. This role is responsible for obtaining and verifying prior authorizations for chemotherapy, radiation therapy, imaging, supportive care, medications, and other related services.
The position helps ensure timely approvals, reduces treatment delays, and supports compliance with payer requirements. The specialist works closely with physicians, nurses, clinical staff, insurance companies, and specialty pharmacies to resolve authorization issues and document approvals accurately.
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2–3 years of experience in healthcare prior authorizations, medical billing, or revenue cycle operations
- Knowledge of insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers
- Experience with EHR and practice management systems
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Preferred
- Experience in oncology or specialty practice
- Certification in medical billing/coding such as CPC, CPAR, or similar
- Familiarity with chemotherapy regimens and oncology-specific authorization processes
