As a HIMS Technician, you will compile, process, and maintain patient records in a manner consistent with healthcare requirements and standards. This role supports accurate medical record management, deficiency monitoring, data entry, and record completion for inpatient rehabilitation care.
Responsibilities include maintaining delinquent records, monitoring staff deficiencies, completing deficiency checklists, performing final record checks, abstracting discharge dates for system entry, completing HIMS data entry, and correcting daily exception report errors.
Requirements & Qualifications
Qualifications
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Graduate of an accredited college or university
- Medical Record Technology college or vocational school preferred
- Minimum 3 years of hospital HIMS experience preferred in lieu of certification
- Knowledge of medical terminology required
- 1 year of data entry experience preferred
