As an HIM Specialist, you will provide essential operational support by managing document imaging, record maintenance, and accurate chart reviews. You will ensure that patient health information remains secure and compliant with HIPAA and regulatory standards.
Each day, you will perform core tasks such as scanning, indexing, and quality-checking records while assisting with release of information requests. You will work within established workflows to maintain timely processing and handle departmental inquiries effectively.
You will be expected to consistently meet productivity and quality benchmarks for all assigned duties and demonstrate strong attention to detail to ensure records are complete and deficiencies are promptly escalated.
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
Preferred
- Associate degree in a health-related field or completion of a healthcare degree program
- Experience in Health Information Management, medical records, or a healthcare setting
- Basic experience with electronic medical record systems
- Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
