Support primary care providers with real-time clinical documentation and care coordination in a clinic-based setting.
The role involves joining patient visits, documenting encounters, assisting with after-visit summaries, and helping with clinical documentation improvement. Scribes also support provider workflows by placing orders and referrals, addressing tasks, and helping close care gaps through accurate documentation and coding support.
This is a full-time, in-person role with approximately 40–45 hours per week during clinic hours. Oak Street Health provides on-the-job training in clinical workflows, value-based care, chronic condition documentation, and population health tools.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and common medications, from a pre-medical degree or prior clinical experience
- Prior clinical experience, shadowing, or volunteering strongly preferred
- Prior scribe or transcription experience preferred but not required
- Advanced listening and communication skills
- Strong computer literacy and ability to learn new technical workflows
- Fluency in Spanish, Polish, Russian, or other community languages where indicated
- Ability to adapt quickly and learn new concepts and skills
- Ability to type 70+ words per minute strongly preferred
- Willingness to work as part of a care team and adapt to provider workflow
- Excellent attendance and ability to work in person in clinics
- Commitment to at least 1 year in role; 2+ years ideal
- Ability to work 40–45 hours per week during clinic hours
- Compliance with HIPAA and all hospital/Oak Street Health policies
- US work authorization required
- Competitive hourly pay range: $17.00–$25.65
