The Washington State Department of Corrections is seeking a full-time Health Record Technician 1 for the Washington Corrections Center in Shelton, WA.
This position serves as a custodian of patient medical records and supports the delivery, distribution, access, maintenance, and retention of manual and electronic health records and forms. The role also provides health record information to authorized medical providers, staff, and third-party agents in compliance with applicable policies, state and federal requirements, and regulations.
Key duties include processing records requests, managing health record retention, assisting with public records requests, supporting health record audits, and providing technical assistance to facility staff regarding disclosure of health information and statewide health record unit processes.
Required
- Certification by AHIMA as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), or the ability to obtain certification within 6 months of appointment
- Valid driver's license
Preferred
- Two or more years of experience in Health Information Management
- Knowledge of state and federal laws, national standards, and department policies governing health records and disclosure
- Experience working in a correctional facility
