Facility: Baptist Health Rehabilitation Hospital

Baptist Health Rehabilitation Hospital is a brand-new 62-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) and part of Lifepoint Health, a healthcare delivery network focused on making communities healthier. This role supports the opening of the new hospital and requires working onsite at the facility.
The Health Information Manager is responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining the hospital's Health Information Department in accordance with state and federal guidelines, accreditation standards, and hospital policies and procedures. This position manages the HIM function, not a people management team, and serves as a resource for hospital leadership and staff on health information matters.
Key responsibilities include maintaining confidentiality of patient care information, supporting the collection and maintenance of medical records, assisting physicians with the electronic medical record, helping ensure records are completed within required timeframes, and processing patient information requests within deadlines.
Qualifications
- RHIT (or eligible), RHIA (or eligible), or AHIMA coding certification
- Preferably 2+ years of experience in health information leadership
- Experience in a health-related facility, preferably a hospital setting
- Knowledge of HIPAA, JCAHO, CARF, and TJC standards
- Ability to work onsite at the hospital
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, direct, and maintain the Health Information Department
- Maintain procedures for collection, abstracting, filing, and retrieval of medical records
- Assist physicians and staff with electronic medical record use
- Ensure records are completed within required timeframes
- Serve as a resource on health information rules, regulations, and accreditation standards
- Process discharge records, including assembly, analysis, and abstracting
- Review and process requests for patient information within required timeframes
