Patient Access Specialist - Hospital Operator Services

Patient Access Specialist supporting Hospital Operator Services for Northwestern Medicine.

Shift: 11:00 pm–7:30 am, with every other weekend and rotating holidays.

This role focuses on patient-first service, registration support, scheduling, insurance verification, medical necessity checks, and coordination with hospital departments and physician offices. The position also supports quality assurance, process improvement, and accurate documentation in Epic and related systems.

Requirements & Qualifications

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2–3 years of customer service or medical office experience
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in computer data entry and typing
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability to type 40 wpm
  • Ability to multitask
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • Excellent organizational, time management, analytical, and problem-solving skills

Preferred

  • Additional education
  • Additional language skills
  • Healthcare finance and/or healthcare insurance experience
  • Experience in a healthcare setting, especially patient scheduling and/or registration
