Assist the HIM Director with health information management workflows, including handling patient folder queues, resolving unbilled accounts, and processing physician suspensions. Serve as the primary point of contact when the HIM Director or HIM Coordinator is unavailable.
Key duties include retrieving discharged medical records, reconciling records from hospital departments, managing storage and archival of documents, preparing records for scanning, scanning and indexing medical record documents, and validating scanned documents for quality control. This role also includes support with birth certificate processing, collecting and documenting birth information, assisting parents with required forms, and reviewing patient records to obtain required birth details.
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Hospital or medical office experience preferred but not required
- Previous experience handling patient health information, medical records, or document imaging strongly preferred
- State certification may be required for birth certificate processing
- Ability to work Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
