The Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist is a mid-level role within the Medical Records Department at Integral Care. This position serves as a subject-matter expert across health information management functions, including document management, release of information, quality assurance, HIPAA compliance, 42 CFR Part 2 / SAMHSA requirements, Texas Health and Safety Code, and clinical records support.
The role requires independent judgment, advanced knowledge of EHR systems, and the ability to support staff training, procedural development, and compliance activities. The HIM Specialist may represent the department in the Director of Health Information Management's absence and serve as a resource for clinical and administrative staff across the organization.
This position requires regular, predictable attendance and may require a flexible work schedule. The employee must reside in Texas.
Education
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
License
- Current and valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Experience
- 2 years of experience in medical records, health information management, or release of information
Preferred
- RHIA or RHIT certification
