The Health Technician (Telehealth Clinical) supports and manages telehealth operations at a VA medical center or affiliated clinical site. The role assists with clinical telehealth encounters, prepares examination environments, maintains telehealth equipment, and helps ensure efficient, safe delivery of care to Veterans.
Key duties include:
- Supporting patient and provider telehealth encounters
- Serving as tele presenter within scope of practice
- Acting as an imager and clinical data manager for store-and-forward telehealth applications
- Managing real-time clinical telehealth events
- Preparing clinical spaces and telecommunication equipment for use
- Monitoring schedules for rooms, patients, technologies, providers, and presenters
- Tracking inventory, maintenance work orders, and replacement equipment needs
- Communicating with the National Telehealth Technology Help Desk as needed
Applicants must meet VA qualification standards for Health Technician (Telehealth Clinical).
Basic requirements include:
- U.S. citizenship
- English language proficiency
- One year of experience in a health care field, or qualifying education, or an approved combination of education and experience
- For GS-6, one year of experience equivalent to GS-5 is required
- Ability to use computer systems and telehealth technologies
- Ability to communicate and provide technical direction
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and work as part of a team
- Knowledge of general clinical policies and procedures in a health care environment
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply complex written instructions
