Supports care teams by analyzing and responding to requests for patient health information across medical, behavioral health, and dental records. Responsible for sorting, reviewing, scanning, and maintaining patient documents in the electronic health record while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with applicable privacy laws.
The role also assists with record tracking, release of information requests, scanning and indexing documents, lab reconciliation, patient record updates, and support for walk-in requests and incoming calls related to health information services.
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a two-year program in Health Information or equivalent experience, typically acquired by two years of current Health Information experience
- Medical terminology required
- Knowledge of HIPAA privacy regulations and Rhode Island state and federal laws/regulations
- Strong analytical abilities and good judgment
- Excellent communication skills
- Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft and Windows-based applications
- EHR experience preferred
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- Ability to communicate sensitively with diverse populations
- Reliable transportation
