Tennessee Oncology is seeking a Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist to support accurate, timely, and secure handling of patient health records. This role is essential to provider readiness, regulatory compliance, and patient safety across clinic locations.
The HIM Specialist maintains medical records, scans and indexes documents into the electronic health record (EHR), prepares charts for patient appointments, processes record requests, supports faxing and document routing, and assists patients with accessing records through the Patient Engagement Portal. The position also collaborates with clinical and administrative teams to ensure health information is organized, complete, and available when needed.
A high school diploma or GED is required.
Preferred qualifications and skills:
- Two years of professional office experience preferred
- Experience in medical records or a healthcare setting strongly preferred
- Strong computer proficiency, including EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to travel to satellite clinics when necessary
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
