The DBQ Reviewer will collaborate with medical professionals to support the completeness and accuracy of complex medical documentation and examination processes. They will confirm that the veteran has been examined for all medical issues listed, the medical provider has utilized the appropriate reporting form, and documentation is completed in accordance with established standards.
Key responsibilities include:
- Review complex medical exam reports for completeness, accuracy, and adherence to VA guidelines.
- Identify and document quality issues and escalate them to management as necessary.
- Work closely with healthcare providers to deliver report-specific feedback and assist with revising medical exam reports.
- Handle more complex cases that may be escalated.
- Meet individual productivity targets while maintaining high review quality as measured by internal audits.
- Stay current on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and policies.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree preferred.
- Minimum 1 year experience in the medical field as a Scribe, Military Corpsman/Medic, Certified Medical Assistant, biller/coder; OR minimum 1 year healthcare Quality Analyst experience; OR at least 6 months conducting QA reviews of DBQs per VA and MDE requirements.
- Deep knowledge of medical terminology, medical conditions, and quality assurance methodologies.
- Strong written and oral communication and comprehension skills.
- Proficient with computers, including Microsoft tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Work timing: Monday through Friday, 9 AM EST to 5:30 PM EST (8-hour shift).
The first 6 weeks involve mandatory remote training via Zoom requiring full daily participation and professional conduct with camera on.
Location: Remote (based in Maryland).
