The Medical Office Coordinator facilitates patient registration and scheduling processes, communicates with registration and ancillary departments for accurate outpatient appointment capture and throughput, schedules patient appointments for ancillary departments ensuring all necessary information is recorded, interacts with registration, and notifies physician offices of possible non-covered appointments. They also facilitate prompt precertification delivery for outpatient clinics, evaluate and report information to facilitate patient care, prioritize workload efficiently with problem-solving skills, maintain clerical skills to file supporting records, enter information for patient appointments and external reviews for pre-certified appointments, and attend staff meetings regularly. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge and skills include proficiency with computers and small office equipment such as copier, fax, and calculator.
Education required is high school diploma or equivalent, with preferred fields of study in business, marketing, fundraising, healthcare-related fields, non-profit management, healthcare administration, sales and marketing, or business administration.
Preferred work experience includes 1+ year in a medical setting with coding, charge entry, and payment collection.
Basic Life Support - CPR certification (BLS) preferred.
