The Director of Revenue Cycle Management leads the patient revenue cycle system to improve revenue yield and ensure financial viability. Reporting to the CFO, the director manages all revenue cycle operations, promotes patient-friendly workflows maximizing revenue and compliance, and leads a service-oriented revenue cycle team.
Responsibilities include developing and operationalizing revenue cycle policies, managing patient registration, coding, claims submission, accounts receivable, payment posting, and compliance. The role involves cultivating relationships across the organization, ensuring effective front-end revenue cycle operations, communicating regulatory changes, staff education, reporting revenue metrics, negotiating contracts, and compliance with Medi-Cal, Medicare, and CMS rules.
The director supervises billing, coding, registration, and financial counseling staff, providing training, accountability, and monitoring productivity and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Health Management, or related field required; Master’s (MBA or MHA) preferred.
- 5+ years managing patient revenue function required; 7+ years in multi-site FQHC in California preferred.
- Certified Revenue Cycle Specialist and Certified Coder certifications preferred.
Skills include team collaboration, staff development, data-driven management, excellent communication, organizational skills, cultural competency, bilingual preferred, and strong computer proficiency.
Physical requirements include prolonged sitting, computer use, and occasional lifting up to 15 pounds.
