The Director of Revenue Cycle Management provides strategic and operational leadership for the organization’s full revenue cycle. This role optimizes financial performance through best practices implementation, regulatory compliance assurance, and continuous improvement across all revenue cycle functions.
Responsibilities include leading all revenue cycle aspects such as front-end operations, billing, collections, and payer relations; developing strategies to improve performance and financial outcomes; championing continuous process improvements; ensuring regulatory and payer compliance; overseeing workflows and office policies in partnership with the COO; managing the Business Office Manager and staff development; coordinating financial and operational reporting; delivering presentations for leadership; utilizing data analytics and AI for strategic decisions; monitoring KPIs and conducting compliance audits; overseeing MIPS reporting; analyzing payer reimbursement and identifying improvement opportunities; serving as liaison among clinical teams, administrative staff, and Business Office; and participating in Revenue Cycle Oversight Committee.
Required skills are strong leadership and communication skills, deep knowledge of revenue cycle operations and compliance, financial acumen with healthcare reporting and analytics experience, data analysis and performance improvement proficiency, problem-solving, professionalism, and proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and revenue cycle management systems. Working knowledge of medical terminology, CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10 coding is necessary.
Education requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Accounting or related field (required), Master’s degree preferred, and Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or similar certification preferred.
A minimum of 5 years progressive leadership experience in revenue cycle or business office operations is required, with prior roles including Revenue Cycle Manager, Business Office Manager, Patient Accounts Manager, or Revenue Cycle Consultant.
The role involves a fast-paced office environment with frequent interaction with staff, patients, and external partners, potential handling of escalated patient or payer situations, physical requirements including sitting, standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent travel between organizational locations, and requires valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
