The Revenue Cycle Specialist is responsible for managing the organization's billing and payment cycles to support financial health by processing claims, payments, and accounts receivable, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations.
Responsibilities include preparing and submitting insurance claims, resolving claim denials, submitting prior authorizations, verifying patient eligibility, tracking and reconciling payments, maintaining aging reports, escalating delayed accounts, partnering with clinical and administrative staff to resolve discrepancies, communicating clearly with patients about insurance and payments, assisting with revenue cycle reporting, and recommending process improvements.
The role requires integrity, confidentiality, teamwork, and a customer service mindset with empathy for patients.
Required skills:
- Strong knowledge of insurance billing, claims processing, and payment posting
- Familiarity with CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) and billing software systems
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of revenue cycle management in Oregon and Washington healthcare markets
- Ability to work collaboratively across organization levels and in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality
- Strong negotiation skills
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business, or related field preferred
- Two years of experience in medical billing, coding, or revenue cycle management preferred
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to operate office equipment
- Ability to lift small items, walk short distances, and drive to deliver/pick up materials
Compensation:
- Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 per year
