The Senior Revenue Cycle Specialist is responsible for analyzing and optimizing financial processes within a healthcare organization, including patient registration, billing, coding, claims submission, and collections. This role involves identifying areas for improvement, monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs), and implementing strategies to maximize revenue while ensuring compliance with regulations.
Key duties include accounts receivable management, preparing and reviewing complex medical records requests, interpreting payer correspondence, submitting carrier appeals and reconsideration requests, updating line-item receipt posting, resolving hold codes related to eligibility and denials, maintaining documentation accuracy, uploading claims and appeal documents into OnBase, verifying insurance policies for prior authorization, and collaborating with coding, billing, patient access, and cash receipts specialists. Additionally, the specialist mentors and trains new team members and leads projects focused on process optimization.
Successful candidates should have a high school diploma or GED (associate or bachelor's degree preferred) with extensive experience in revenue cycle processes and denial management. Knowledge of ICD9, ICD10, CPT, and HCPCS coding is required along with proficiency in Microsoft Office. The role demands attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to lead initiatives and mentor others.
