We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Dental Hygienist for a part-time role (32 hours Tuesday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM) at a small Tribal health clinic serving American Indian and Alaskan Native patients. The position focuses on prevention, patient education, and continuity of care rather than high-volume production.
The Dental Hygienist provides preventive, educational, and therapeutic dental hygiene services under the supervision of the Clinical Director of Dental Operations. Responsibilities include patient assessments, developing treatment plans, performing prophylaxis and periodontal therapies, administering anesthesia, taking and interpreting radiographs, patient education, accurate charting and electronic records management compliant with HIPAA, supporting dentistry procedures, maintaining infection control protocols, using dental software like MIPACS or Dentrix, monitoring patient comfort, and participating in community prevention programs.
Qualifications include a degree from an accredited Dental Hygiene program, current Dental Hygienist license with certification for anesthesia and radiographs, ability to obtain Rhode Island licensure, 3 to 5 years of dental clinic experience, proficiency with EMR systems, knowledge of dental sciences and HIPAA compliance, excellent patient communication skills, valid driver's license, and current BLS (CPR) certification. Experience in public or Tribal health settings is strongly preferred.
